Regulations of Student Admission and Registration

 

- Student's admission

    For admission, students should provide the following:-

1- Good conduct certificate.

2- High school certificate.

3- Application form, two copies of high school certificate, two copies of ID and passport, and 5 recent colored photos.

4- The student should pass the university entry exams.

 - System of Study:-

   The university follows the credit hour system.

   The Orientation program is designed for newly admitted students. It is conduct start one week prior to the beginning of the semester.

The students are introduced to the regulations, system of study, registration, and rights and responsibilities.

-  Academic supervision:-

  The students are assigned to academic advisors, from the members of academic staff from the department of specialization. Advisors aid students chose courses according to the study plan, and also help in case problems arise.

-  Study Load:-

 1- The study load is specified at the beginning of each semester considering student's achievement in the previous semester/s.

2- The study load is between 12-18 credit hours as for regular semester and 6 for the summer semester.

3- The distinguished student with an accumulative average of 3.4 or above can register one extra course. So the student load is to be 21 credit hours. This is under the supervision of the academic advisor and the agreement of the head department.

4- The student should fulfill the requirements for the course, in order to register in it. The student can register in a course and it's pre-requisite at the same time only if he failed in that prerequisite course or for graduation purposes.

5- The student with accumulative average less than 2.0 points is to take the minimum study load.

      * The academic advisor and the academic department council determine the academic load for the new students.

- Discipline and Attendance:-

   1- Students should attend the whole lectures, and the practical hours, and all these should be according to the studying plan.

   2- If the percentage of student absences exceeds 15% of the course (without any excuse), he will be considered withdrawn from the course.

   3- If the percentage of student absences exceeds 20% of the course (with an excuse), he will be considered withdrawn from the course.

   4- The lecturer should notify the Division of Admission and Registration in writing in case the students` absences exceed 6 credit hours in his course.

  5- The student is not allowed to be late for the lecture, and if he does, he is to be considered absent.

   6- The registration of the student is canceled if he is absent for more than one month (for any excuse).

   7- The medical excuses issued from governmental hospitals or other governmental health care centers are acceptable in the university under the following conditions.  Medical excuses must be original with original stamp in the name of the student and his university ID number. The student should bring the excuses to the Division of Admission and Registration to record it and the university has the right to accept the excuse or not.

   8- Other excuses are acceptable for the university administration. The student has the right for three days off in case one of his close relatives is dead and he should bring a document to prove that.

   9- The student has the right to 3 days for marriage and 1 day for engagement.

   10- The university accepts the excuses for ending the legal procedures, and the student should go to the Admission and Registration Division before his appearance in front the court, and also he should bring the whole documents with him after ending everything to check his absence.

   11- Traveling outside the country is not acceptable excuse unless the student gets an approval from the head of admission and registration division.

 

- Regulations of Examinations:-

 

    1- The student should show his university ID before entering any exam.

    2- The student should bring things needed for the exam such as pen, pencil… etc, and he can't ask for any of those during the exam. The student should ask permission for using the calculator at the exam.

    3- The student should write his university ID on the papers of the exam.

    4- The student should be in the exam hall 10 mins before the exam begins.

    5- The student is not allowed to enter the exam hall after 30 mins from the beginning of the exam.

    6- The student is not allowed to bring with him any books, notes, papers, or other materials related to the exam. The student who is caught with pieces of paper during the exam is asked to leave the class immediately.

   7- If a student misses a final exam and provides an excuse (for one day, not more) just are acceptable, but if it for more than one day will not be acceptable in this case the student can make the exam again in the next semester final exams, as for midterm exam the student can exam again with the midterm exam for the next semester.

     8- The student should present his excuse within 72 hours from the exam date to the admission and registration division. The student with accepted excuse should take the exam within a week from the last exam. In case the student doesn't attend the second exam (with or without excuse) he will get zero in that exam.

    9- If the student doesn't attend the final exam he should present a request including the excuse to the head of admission and registration division after the exam directly and before posting the grads otherwise he will get zero out of forty in the final exam.

    10- In case that the excuse is accepted, the result for the final exam will be incomplete (Inc) in the condition that his score in that course is C (36 out of 60) or more, but if it is less than 36 the final result will be calculate for him.

   11- In case student caught cheating in the midterm exam his degree will be zero in this exam.

    12- In case the student caught cheating in the final exam his degree will be zero and he will re-study the subject from the beginning in the next semester.

2. The total grade is divided as follows:-

1- 30% for the midterm exam.

2- 20% for the daily exams.

3- 10% for the attendance and participation.

4- 40% for the final exam.

3. The calculations of the marks for each course are in percentages and that will be for the midterm and final exams.

4. The marks should be handed to the examination committee in 72 hours from the examination date.

 5. In the special case when students are allowed to have an (INC) the mark is sent to the admission and registration division in 72 hours, as is. The complete mark is handed to the division within one week from the date of the exam.

6. The student is considered passed (a conditional passed) if he got 50% in the total grade and if he got less than 50% he must re-take that subject again.

7. The student can take the paper of midterm exam (and not the final exam) after 2 weeks. The marks will be sent to the admission and registration division.

8. The exam's papers are kept by the examination committee for a whole semester. After that the head of the committee decides what to do with them.

9. The final marks for all students in all subjects are sent to the faculty board to issue the reports about the marks.

10. The final exam and the midterm are held by the central examination committee which is responsible for sending the marks to the admission and registration division.

- Time of study, study load, and the system of the credit hours:-

Delmon has adopted the credit hours system. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students are required to complete specific number of credit hours to be offered the required degree. The university adopts two systems. The study during the academic year is offered over two main semesters (fall and spring) and one summer semester(two-semester system), or through three semesters ( Tri-semester system) which helps students to complete their degrees in a shorter period of time.

2. For the two-semester system, the semester is for (16) weeks including the exams period.

3. For the Tri-semesters system, the credit hours must not be less than (180 hours) and the semester must not be less than (10) weeks.

4. In the two-semester system, the summer course is for (8) weeks including the exams period.

5. In the Tri-semester system, the summer course is for (5) weeks including the exam period.

6. The minimum number credit hours allowed to be taken by the student for the two semesters system in the spring semester is (9) credit hours.

7. The maximum credit hours allowed to be taken by the student two semesters system, for the full and spring semesters are (18) credit hours.

8.  The maximum limit for the studying period is (8) academic years, if the student exceeds this limit he will be dismissed from the university automatically.

9. The minimum limit for the studying period is (8) academic semesters according to the Higher Education Ministry regulations.
